A woman who was severely beaten by her husband while she was pregnant is calling for him to be deported after his release from prison, saying: “I’m scared he’ll kill a woman next time.”
Susan Walmsley feared she would die during the brutal assault by Muhammed Tajik at an apartment on Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin in December 2015.
She said Tajik, originally from Afghanistan, had “groomed” her on Instagram. He applied for asylum in Ireland in 2015.
After a short and volatile marriage, asylum seeker Tajik attacked Ms Walmsley, who was pregnant, fracturing her jaw and eye socket, and causing swelling to her neck.
The assault took place after Ms Walmsley had burnt a pizza and found a new job – a move she made to win back her independence.
